    The police can go to the other party and ask him to give it back.

    But without proof that can be taken to court, the police could not arrest the other boy for stealing it.

    Hello nestell2010, and Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle. Usually we ask our newest members to go to the New Member Introductions page and post a thread telling us a little about yourself, as coming in to our internet home and just hammering us with questions is considered bad form.

    Also, I've moved your question from the Writers Questions section of Ask-A-Cop to the regular Ask-A-Cop section since it has nothing to do with writing a story / book / play.

    As for answering your question, what Citicop said above is correct. Contact your local law enforcement agency and see if they can talk to the other party. Absent any actual proof, there is little they can do.

    Personally, I would contact the other boy's father and explain the situation. Let him know you really would like to get it back with out calling the police. This will accomplish one of two things;
    1. The father will be co-operative and talk to his son thereby getting your item returned.
    OR
    2. The father will tell you to pound salt. He will then yell at his kid because he got a phone call from another dad complaining. The kid will deny doing anything and ditch the item never to be seen again.
    OR
    Call the police first and hope for the best.
    good-luck

    This. Why waste police resources over a video game and interject law enforcement into a situation between a couple kids? I can't think of how many different things I took as a kid from another kid and how many things of mine were taken. Not one time did my parents involve the police over something so piddly.
    Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

    "Wrong door, buddy!"

    Let no man's ghost say my training failed him.
