Red LED's allowed in TX?

I have an old BMW i built custom so i take it to shows alot. i recently got pulled over by a constable (and was placed with 2 citations) in heavy rain when i asked if i had done something wrong he said that i was driving with my hi's on and it was distracting. i have HID's on my car. Then he said my red ground effects were illegal as well as my red LED strips i have around my fog lights (like an audi's fog lights). I know i can get the citation for my HID's dismissed but is it really illegal to have a red LED strip around my fog lights and to drive with red underglow on? i find it strange because ive been driving it for about a year the same way and never been pulled over. please help.

Can't say for sure about TX (someone with better knowledge will be along shortly I'm sure) but in MO, it is illegal to have any red lights to the front of your vehicle at all unless you are an authorized emergency vehicle.

It would not surprise me at all if TX was the same way.

thanks citicop i guess ill have to add another toggle switch so i can turn on the LED's at shows only not while driving. i thought they just couldnt be flashin red lights.

Same in Florida, no red OR blue lights on your vehicle unless you are an authorized emergency vehicle.

Same in Oregon. Red lights anywhere on your vehicle except the rear is illegal unless it's a firetruck, ambulance or police car.

A red light is no advantage anyway as far as your visibility.

The way I look at it is; Your colored lights are really pretty cool at a show and attract a lot of attention. Do you really want to do that on the street with the police watching your show? I am sure if the officer of that state gave you a ticket for it, he knows the law. Stick to the shows.

Can't have any red lights, at all, showing to the front in Arizona, either. Only authorized emergency vehicles.

In PA, you can't have such lights INSTALLED on your car. Simply putting a toggle switch on them isn't good enough.

Same in Oregon. Just having them operable is the same as running with them.

Dont bring your car here either, no red or blues on anything unless it's an Emergency Vehicle...
Cant even drive with Flog Lights on either... Nice Ticket there too.
European made vehicles changed the way they call Fog Lights, they are are now "Driving Lights"
