Hi everyone. Last night i made a horrible mistake.. I drove about 15miles on the wrong side of the road, and recieved a Reckless Driving ticket
I'm from the Phoenix area of Arizona, and i was heading to Farmington, New Mexico. My aunt was driving all the way over to the location of Farmington, then I got dropped off at my mothers job on the resevation to pick up her car and drive it the rest of the way on my own. So I was asleep for a majority of the ride, and got dropped off into a area I don't even know. My moms car has a built in GPS inside her Acura and I was following that, all I had to do was drive 30miles from her work, into Farmington.
So I pulled out onto the street, trying to figure out if im on the right side of the road or not, then I come across plenty of signs posting speed limits just to the right of me; so I really thought I was on just a 2way road with 1 lane for each side.
A cop pulled me over and asked questions, and I took the DUI test; I passed. He told me "I recieved calls, from citizens; saying a car is driving on the wrong side". I told the cop, I am so sorry, and I really thought i was on the right side, and I am not from this town, and from the city. He understood my situation and everything, he was really nice; but he said he has to give me a Reckless Driving ticket, and can't just let me go scott free.
My question is, what will happen to me in court? Anyone know if I can somehow get this reduced, or off the record some how? I know what I did put people in danger, and I wouldn't do this on purpose...
