So just what *does* it smell like?

I'm baaack....This time with a bit of an odd question that probably shows how sheltered I am.

To my knowledge, I've never even been around marijuana, even though I know my fair share of people who've experimented with it.

Everybody I know who's dealt with the stuff has seemed to say that marijuana has a distinctive odor to it. Presumably, this odor can be described with other adjectives more useful in description.

But unfortunately, it's been years since I last was in contact with people who've been around the stuff, so I'm instead asking here...Just how would people describe the odor of marijuana?

Marijuana smells like marijuana. The only real way to get it right is to smell it once and then have someone tell you what it is. It does have a distinctive odor, but I don't know any adjectives which could describe it to someone who has never smelled it before.

Best way to know what marijuana smells like is go to a coliseum during a rock concert - anything that doesn't smell like popcorn is marijuana.

If you want to know what it smells like, find a piece of hemp rope or some hemp fabric. You can smolder that and that's (pretty much) what it smells like.

The fresh stuff smells like monkey sh*t . . or even bat crap. Ever been to the zoo, there's a odour wafting from the monkeys . . .take a deep snort of that . . . our rear car park smells like that after every hydroponic raid. We have to store the plants until its certified dope, normally takes a few days.

If you're worried about how you'll know what it smells like when (if?) you become a police officer: Your academy training will likely include a "controlled burn" of marijuana so you can testify that you have a legitimate basis of knowledge of the smell.

No, this was more pure curiosity. For about the millionth time, I read something on the net referring to marijuana's "distinctive" smell, but....Nobody ever describes what it smells like!

Smells are a lot like emotions.... I could explain it to you all day long but it would mean very little to you. They are very unique to each of us.
