Outshined, if you're just going to be disrespectful, why do you continue to post? I didn't come here to get bashed, I came here to seek guidance on a legal issue.

You come on a Law Enforcement website and ask professional officers how to buy, "sex toys" when you are only 17.

Number one, you should not be buying sex toys. Number two, if you are serious about your question, you should seek physciatric help, not help from police officers, who are sworn to serve and protect and uphold the law.

Number three, if I knew who you were I would first be calling your parents and then child protective services.

I will not give you guidance on how to buy "sex toys". And no one else here who carries a badge should be giving you advice on how to.

To be honest, who cares if a 17 yo buys an adult toy. Lawful industry, biggest industry in the world etc. Maybe I'm just a realist in that suddenly overnight a 17 yo doesnt wake up as an 18 yo with a world of knowledge and wisdom imparted upon them.

Age of consent here is 16 anyway, so maybe that shapes my views a bit.

Hell, even ebay sells adult products these days, times, they are a changin'

But, I digress, our views on maturity and the adult industry are hardly the issue, that could open a whole new can of worms

When it becomes an issue is when, whether legal or not, you are sitting in front of IAD trying to explain your comments on the internet, about assisting a minor or an adult buying sex toys. As officers we are supposed to be examples to young people, moral and upstanding, or maybe that is just my idea of what we are supposed to be.

You don't have to skirt the law because there is no law. She is doing something completely legal. I'm sure everyone on this forum had a boyfriend/girlfriend at age 17. She only asked if there was an age requirement and it was answered. The personal attacks are not necessary.

I'd rather see her buy a sex toy then go get the real thing and get knocked up and live off welfare the rest of her life. There are too many children having children these days.

It's 2010, almost 2011, kids are having sex at about 12. I don't condone it but it's going to happen anyway so why not encourage safe ways of doing it.

I know here, there is no law prohibiting the purchase etc of adult products, but there is against literature and movies due to there being Classification laws.

Besides, I dont pretend to be the world's moral compass. I might have my morals/ethics and values but what ever one does in the bedroom is their business (so long as its lawful). I think coppers would go mental if they tried to be a moral compass. Our job it to set an example of right and wrong, lawful and unlawful. If I were a Johovas witness, I wouldn't go to every job trying to convert them. I do my job without "fear or favour, malice or ill will" and if that means that its sorting out a burg for 2 blokes that live happily in a homosexual relationship and they are happy, then congrats to them, if its a mom who is into latex and whips, then good for her (and greg??). My job is to be there as a copper, and not their shining light of how to live their private lives.

The world is a facinating place, full of facinating people.

Like Greg, I don't condone the slide of kids into "adulthood", but its a fact of life. And as I said earlier, a 17 Yo doesn't go to bed and wake up on their 18th Bday with massive amounts of imparted wisdom and maturity.

Let's face it, right or wrong (typically wrong), a 17 year old has their mind made up about things. You can tell them something is wrong until you are blue in the face but they will do what they want to do. This is why I won't have kids.
