umm i don't think so im saying im not hot! lol. I don't think they are being pervs. I guess i should have asked what makes a person look suspicious to police? after reading a few responses saying its the hours im out i can understand that.

Typically speaking, people out on the roads at 2:00 am are law-abiding people working late night shifts, criminals up to no good (who coincidently don't pay much regard to lesser laws like traffic violations), or people leaving the bars (often whom are also DUI). Out of those 3, police actively look for 2 of them. If you're not one of those 2, the police will probably give you a cursory look and move on if you aren't violating any traffic laws.

I'll give you an example of how I attracted police attention by walking around late at night:

I lived downtown in the state capitol. I worked the night shift at the jail in an adjoining county.

One night at about 3 A.M. I got bored and started wandering around the capitol building/park area.

I happened to wander over by the police memorial, which I had never seen before. I walked around looking at the memorial when I heard a noise behind me.

A bike officer had ridden up to me in the dark just to see what I was up to. I looked around and noticed three patrol vehicles had also pulled up a ways off waiting to see what was going on.

The officer said Hi and rode off and the vehicles left. I guess I didn't look like a big enough bad guy once they got close.

Later I read that the memorial had been vandalized several times recently in the middle of the night- gave me a clue why I had drawn so much attention.

LOL, Kristen said she was 5'3" and 96 lbs that was the first thing I thought of. The Officer is trying to figure out if she's old enough to be driving or to be out that late and not a run away teenager. So they are running the plate and the registered owner to find the physical description matches and that she is older that what she looks.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

How do you know the cop wasn't just waiting to use the ATM?

Another time i was getting gas and a cop did the same thing pulled in and just watched me and left when i left. Are they just more suspicious of people late at night ? why dont they ever say anything to me they just stare would it be rude to ask one next time why they r watching me? I'm not paranoid and i have nothing to hide i just dont know why they think im going to do something wrong i dont look like a bad person
How would we know what those officers you saw were thinking?
How do YOU know what those officers were thinking?
Why do you automatically assume they were watching you?
How do you know the officer at the gas station wasn't waiting for another officer to show up, so they could get a cup of coffee?
If they didn't detain, stop, or question you, why are you assuming anything?

I once worked for a small town. In this town I was very active at night (drove every street over and over). If I drove every street I could make a round trip in about an hour and a half. One stop on a vehicle I made involved a conversation about, why was I following them all night. I did see the vehicle more than a few times riding around town.
I must also add that I knew the driver and the passenger (good kids no drugs or crime). I had to explain to them that with the limited size of our town we were going to cross paths if they continually drove around.
After explaining this to them all was well.

I also had stopped and waited while people would use the ATM, this was a small town that also had 10 miles of a major interstate (5 east and 5 west bound) in the city limits that we would also patrol.
Since I did patrol so much I knew what cars went where and when people were home or at work. Most of the time if I saw a vehicle in one part of town and it wasn't headed out of town I knew whose house they were going to, If I saw a car I didn't know I might " be more attentive" of their whereabouts.
