HI, i am applying to a sheriff's dept for a correctional officer position. My question is this, and maybe i shouldnt even be asking it but here goes....when i was 18 -20 i had a stable job for 3 years on overnights. However during the day i was always looking for work for extra cash. I mustve had like 10 jobs during the day that i tried out and if i didnt like it i just wouldnt show up. I applied to NYS dept of corrections and was hired . I workedfor 3.8 years when i decided to go back to college full time so i resigned to do so. I got approved for college and because of unforseen circumstances with my fiancees job I had to put that on hold and look for work again. Anywho, my question is would all those jobs that i had where i just didnt show up for work again affect my chances of getting hired in a sheriffs dept? I was hired by the state of ny but im not sure about a sheriffs dept if it is any different. Keep in mind i did have a primary job that i did keep for 3 years and these were just jobs on the side of that.
Also what is the polygraph like and what questions do they ask?
If you are nervous does this show up as a lie when asked a question?
Just curious thanxxx in advance.
Also if i resided in ny all my life and this dept im applying to is in a southern state how do they get info from neighbors in such? The application states they do neighborhood checks and such. Will they actually fly to NY to get info?
