Have You Received Your "Open Carry" Training? (Philadelphia)

In November, an update to the Directive relating to the unconcealed carrying of firearms by citizens who have a valid and current License to Carry Firearms was released and was to be read at all roll calls at all stations for three consecutive days.

For the LEO's of the Philadelphia Police Department - Have you been briefed on the changed directive? Are you now aware that people with a valid and current Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms, and those with a similar license from a reciprocal state, are permitted to carry their firearms openly and unconcealed, and that such carry is not, and never has been, illegal?

Furthermore, let's say I were to be stopped for openly carrying my firearm, and a police officer tells me that, contrary to the actual law, carrying in such a way is illegal. How would be the best way to go about informing the officer that he is incorrect, so as to avoid an unnecessary arrest (and the following lawsuit)? Would it be a good idea to keep a copy of the new Directive 127 on hand, just in case, to show the officer?

    Thank you for your input.

Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is a good idea. PA's Open Carry Law is exactly that. Mcsap-Mod ,and I am from PA.

    1) We have no Philadelphia cops on here.

    2) We don't disucss what officers are told at roll calls or during meetings in a open forum. It is a slippery slope that leads to other OPSEC issues.

    3) You and I have discussed this in the past and we will not let it spiral out of control. You think you are right. You read the law and interpret it as you want. You don't want to hear the other side or the laws made by the city of Philadelphia. You instead argue back they are "unconstitutional" and can't be enforced and infomred me and others that you are "smatter than cops" and explained how dumb and ignorant we are compared to you.

The law is the law. It is not up for discussion.

    Closing the thread.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.
