I was wondering if someone has a protective order against them can they still become an police officer or will it hold them back from getting the job?

By Federal Law, persons under an active order of protection are prohibited from possessing a firearm.
This alone will prevent the person in question from being a Law Enforcement Officer, even leaving aside whatever actions on that persons part which led to the order in the first place.

The circumstances that led to the issue of the court order COULD be quite difficult to overcome.
