Found 13 Ecstasy Pills in my sons room. NEED HELP

First off let me start by saying I am new to forums and all of this so excuse me if I make a few mistakes. I recently found 13 pills of Ecstasy in my sons room and I may turn him in. I also found a list with names and single digit numbers. I am not sure if they are connected or not. My question is can I even turn him in? Even though I have no proof that I found them in his room and he is 18 years old what would happen if I called police over?
    Thank You
    Karen

Sure you can call the police. Whether or not they can use those as evidence will depend on your state, whether he pays rent to live with you, etc.

A better bet might be to remove him from your house.

But can they even do anything? I am debating it but it seems useless. What do you mean about my state though because he doesn't pay rent. Also he is smart about the law, so scare tactics dont really work on him.

What do you want done? Are you willing to testify against him?

Then don't call the police. They need a witness to testify against your son. They can't come to court and say YOU found the drugs (that's hearsay and will be excluded). YOU would have to come testify and be the witness in the case.

If you don't want to testify, then there is no criminal case, and you need to handle it another way.

Tough situation and my heart goes out to you. He's an adult in the eyes of the law, so his poor choices now could affect him the rest of his adult life.

And flush his dope. I definitely wouldn't give it back to him.

My 2 copper.. Call and make an appointment for a locksmith 30 days from now. Tell son he has 30 days notice to move his stuff out. Tell him what you found. No matter his excuse, he goes and stays gone. Any deviation from this is you telling him it is ok to do that in your house. No matter what excuse he gives you (They're his friends, He didn't know) is BS, he knows and its shouldn't be tolerated otherwise bigger issues will surely follow.

    But that's my 2 cents..
