Unpaid Parking NYC and now in a different state

I lived in NYC over the summer and had my parents car while I was there. I managed to get three parking tickets and only paid one. One of the tickets were for improperly displayed lisence plate, which I thought since the are MI plates they just wanted the $ because my plate was fine.

Anyways since i was leaving NYC soon I didnt think it would matter if i paid or not. Since the car is in my parents name they have been getting letters from NYC saying if it goes unpaid they will asign judgement to a collection agency, garnish wages, restain bank accounts or seize personal property.

Since I am now in a differnt state can they still procede with these actions? Since the vehicale is in my parents name I of course do not want anything to happen to them due to something I did. The fines have now doubled and i do not have the money to pay them. If nothing is goin to happen to us here in MI i will just let them go. Do I need to take any action?

Are you willing to TRASH your parents credit history over traffic tickets ? And any warrants will be out in their name , not yours. Sell your PC. Give up cable TV. Stop going to Starbucks. Get an extra job and take care of YOUR debts.

Many cities do turn unpaid parking tickets to collection agencies and they will go after your parents. I would pay them, you do owe the money, you know.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Surely your parents raised you better than that! You ought to be ashamed of yourself! Your parents give you a car and you repay them with refusing to be responsible for your own actions! Pffft, another, "Me First" person willing to sacrifice family for their own selfishness!

Acyaully NYC just passed legislation that allows them to place a lien on the vehicle. Suggust you call NYC Parking Violations Bureau or log onto NYC Serv - New York City On-Line Payment Services and pay the fines.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

    Grow up and pay up.
Don't like fines don't break the laws.

And yes before you ask I have recieved tickets, but never whined (much) and always paid.
