I lived in NYC over the summer and had my parents car while I was there. I managed to get three parking tickets and only paid one. One of the tickets were for improperly displayed lisence plate, which I thought since the are MI plates they just wanted the $ because my plate was fine.
Anyways since i was leaving NYC soon I didnt think it would matter if i paid or not. Since the car is in my parents name they have been getting letters from NYC saying if it goes unpaid they will asign judgement to a collection agency, garnish wages, restain bank accounts or seize personal property.
Since I am now in a differnt state can they still procede with these actions? Since the vehicale is in my parents name I of course do not want anything to happen to them due to something I did. The fines have now doubled and i do not have the money to pay them. If nothing is goin to happen to us here in MI i will just let them go. Do I need to take any action?
