Oh, I had no shortage of pain. LOL

And, Greg, I am thinking that a tour in Afghanistan is hard to beat for having a jacked-up schedule... and it worked out ok for me. I just carried the little eye-dropper(s) in my pocket or my ruck sack. It worked out pretty well, all things considered.

We had a window of several years where our city health insurance would pay for it. Needless to say, a ****load of cops here got it done using the old RK method before the city figured out what was going on.

I talked to a bunch of people who had it done before I did and none talked about any pain. My doctor would only do one eye at a time. He sent me home with a patch on that eye and some knockout pills so I slept for nearly 24 hours. When I woke up the next day, I removed the patch and that was the end of it.

I guess progress and new procedures ain't always what it's cracked up to be.....

I guess I'm the single exception to this. I'm still wearing glasses. One of the reasons is, I used to work an area where there tended to be a fair amount of flying debris, small stones, etc. I've had my glasses (polycarb lenses) get sharp impacts twice, once putting a nice gouge on the surface of the lenses. I'm pretty sure I'd have lost an eye both times, or at least been seriously injured, if I hadn't been wearing them.

As it is, I haven't experienced any problems wearing them on duty. My eyes aren't so bad that I couldn't function without them.

I wear Rudy Projects or Oakleys most days.

The transitional lenses are great for work and mountain biking.

The only problem I had with them was when I was working the ghetto. Since the gubment was paying for peoples' heat bills, they kept their houses at about 85 degrees all winter. And when it was freezing outside, walking into one immediately fogged up glasses horribly. I had to learn to take mine off before I entered any residence.

I got the frames broken or damaged badly a couple of times in fights, but the city was quick to reimburse me for replacement or repairs.

Yeah I suppose so, another thing it said was no rubbing and that's a guarantee when I wake up...
