    Problems with departmental vision requirements?

I have searched needed qualifications for law enforcement jobs and have found that nearly all federal and many local city/state agencies require UNCORRECTED vision better than 20/200. My right eye is 20/210 uncorrected, 20/20 with glasses. Its looking like I may need to get laser corrective surgery done to open up my options and was wondering if having this done will cause any problems, and if any officers you ay know of have been in a similar position?

They don't care if you have the surgery as long as you can pass the vision. They just want you to be able to see.

FWIW, an academy mate of mine had the old RK surgery so he could be a commercial airline pilot. He just retired from Continental not long ago. They didn't care, I doubt a police dept would care.

As far as the success of it, everyone I know that's had it says they wished they had it done earlier.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Good to know, I also think it would be safer to have the surgery, id hate to lose glasses or have a contact fall out during a patrol. You can always carry a spare but that doesnt help when your wrestling down a bad guy.

Lotsa people wear contacts. The only time I had problems with them was when I worked drug labs. I would get chemicals in them and they would be ruined. Never had one fall out, ever.

The biggest problem I had with glasses was going from the cold into real warm houses, they would fog up.
