    [NY] Underage girl protecting herself

There is kind of a back story to this one:
    Suffolk County NY
My sister is 15 years old (turning 16 in a few months) She looks like she is 20. She has very good looks and is pretty frail. Right now she is ill, and any physical activity could cause internal organs to rupture. Her sweet 16 is planned for the same date as another girl in her high school. The other girl has been in fights, and has violent friends. The school has very little security to offer to students, and only has volunteer hall monitors (no licensed guards, or visits from officers) Due to the fact that both of these girls planned their parties in advance, neither of them can change the date. The violent girl recently posted on her facebook that (paraphrasing the quote) "Anyone who has her sweet 16 the same day as me is a ***** and I'll kill her!" My sister has no self defense training, and no one at school who can protect her at all times. Our mother is going to inform the principal anyway, but we both feel the school will not provide any protection, and would only suspend the girl after a fight occurs. Normally this would be fine, but due to her illness, and weak organs right now, she could die if she is hit too hard. Being underage, I can't give her any pepper spray. What can we do to allow her to defend herself? Thanks

PS: Sorry if the wording is difficult to understand, but I am working on about a million things at once. If anyone needs any clarification, I will happily provide it.

From what it sounds, it would be dangerous for her to have that party. If the school will only react after the fact, I wouldn't let my daughter have her party at the school. It hardly sounds worth it, particularly if she's that fragile. The problem is beyond any options for self defense like pepper spray. If it works fine, if it doesn't, is her life worth that party?

Neither party is at the school. The violent girl is having one in a local hall type place, and my sister's is on a rented boat in the city. I personally agree that the party is not worth it. (I honestly find the whole concept of a sweet 16 to promote spoiled behavior) but my parents spent a lot of time, and money planning it, and they will not cancel it. It seems like the girl already has it out for my sister at this point. Unfortunately the threat on Facebook was not in a message, but a general status update, and did not mention anyone by name. Otherwise I probably would have just notified the school, and local PD myself about it. My mother is stubborn, and won't cancel the party. We cannot even change the date as it has been booked for months. What options are left/recommended? Thanks

Contact the Suffolk County Police and ask for the School Resources Officers name and when he will be in at the precinct that covers the school or where you live. Then mom/dad and sister need to GO THERE and speak with him. Bing a cell phone/laptop to show the post and have a print-out ready. A case can be initaited on that and hopefully the attention will result in the crap to stop.

Thanks for the info. Will the result involve other people knowing that this occured (mostly peers)? Being a teenage girl, my sister is worried about that as well.

Only if you folks tell or the girl mentions it.

This is a bit of a stretch. I'd be curious to hear exactly what medical condition she has that would cause her organs to rupture since i've never heard of one.

I guess the obvious and smart thing to do would be not to have a party with her in such poor condition.

That was my first thought. The last thing I would be worried about would be whether or not she could carry pepper spray.

Maybe they could spend some of that " time and money " on a bouncer ??

Honestly though , if she is in that bad a shape , no DECENT parent would let such a risk occur. AND , no decent parent would task a sister to handle this on their behalf.

While she may well be ill , I doubt she is at deaths door.

I thank you for all of your responses. After consulting with my parents about this, we have contacted the local PD, and the school administration, and the issue is resolved. They are keeping an eye on her at school with extra hall monitors. I also found out that my mother exaggerated her illness out of over protective paranoia. How can I mark the thread as resolved, or answered? Thanks again.
