I chose to go a$$-backwards: I was a CJ professor before (and actually while I was a cop, as I did LE part-time) going into LE full-time. Long story, but I happened into that job, vice pursuing it.

worked at a used car dealer as a lot attendant and driver (picked up cars at auto auctions). Also worked at my dad's auto repair garage one summer picking up parts, minor repairs, shop cleanup etc.
