I think a ticket with a steep fine would have helped!! How did they want to justify passing you and the bus?

While it's still only a summary offense here it's a steep one. Fine is $250 + costs and an automatic 5 points (you can only accumulate 6).

I never used to really think about the whole passing a stopped school bus till this year. My youngest daughter rides the bus home and because she's only 7 someone has to meet her at the bus stop. Mostly that job has fallen on me & I've noticed on numerous occasions that the kids will jump off the bus and just run to whereever their parents are. None of them actually look before running across the road. Luckly most of them are not crossing the street 99% of the time. It only happens when the parents are walking up, myself included.

I now make it a strict point to make my daughter stop and look before we cross the street and that's with the bus stopped with the stop sign out.
