    Question about the Process

I applied for Los Angeles Sheriffs Department for a security officer sheriff position. I passed the test and went to backgrounds. Met with my background investigator and he sent me to my poly. Well I didn't tell my background something out of shame (which I know I should have) and went to the poly. I told the polygrapher what i was withholding from my BI before the test started because it was killing me that I didn't tell my BI in the first place. The polygrapher had me write a statement and I took the test and received a inconclusive result. I immediately called my background and told him what I was withholding and he DQed me for not telling him in the beginning (which I understand).

Now my question is I'm going to a second interview with another department. If I get into the backgrounds with the new department, will this previous DQ get me DQed again? and of course I should tell them about the privious DQ right???

I'm very committed and what i did was like 3 years again when i was young and dumb. I wont make the mistake of withholding again I can tell you that.

The previous DQ will mostly likely come up. It's up to the new agency to decide what to do with that info...

Have you heard of people getting DQed because of having a previous DQ??

Did you read the sticky threat about honesty and integrity? You background interview is not a time to "withhold" information from your BI. I was told in backgrounds that 75% of people eliminated during the process are kicked out for lying during the interviews. That means even if you didn't do something that would get you kicked out in your past, lying about it will get you removed.

Yes it will come up in your next interview. Yes it may disqualify you from that agency also.

It doesn't stop with your BI. Lying to internal affairs is the #1 way to get fired as an officer also.
