Golden Rule: While at the academy, the instructor is always right, even when they are wrong, they are right.
It's them that will pass or fail you!!

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
+1.
I don't know why people don't get this?
While we appreciate the potential of every member that comes into police service...they are an unreliable product until they have proven themselves; and this often takes a couple of years to do.
Kids in the academy need to realize that they are there to learn from those have blazed the trail before them. These rooks are best served keeping their eyes and ears open and mouths shut until they have matured into the job. I can attest that reputations from the academy will precede you out into the field, especially in agencies that push out smaller amounts of recruits a year than the big boys like NY and LA.
My advice is to soak up what senior staff is telling you and once you have some time under your belt you can develop your own style that is acceptable with the boundaries of the job.
This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
Up until the point he decided to try something violent in the process of fleeing he would be.Then he wouldn't be a non-violent offender now would he.![]()
thank u all for the comment, and ill take your advice and i will try and use it!! have a good day!
So you respond to a call at Walmart where a suspect is attempting to pass a forged check. He sees you and runs. In order to run out of the store, he pushes a couple shoppers to the ground.
Now he's obviously put a third person at risk of injury by pushing them down. Are you saying that it's your contention you can use deadly force to stop the suspect? If you do believe this then you are either getting poor academy instruction or you're just not that smart.
no sir thats not at all what i am implying.. im guess im thinking more along the lines if say the felon was fleeing in a vehicle and he is fleeeing twords a crosswalk and school had just let out.. he is not violent but still putting people walking the crosswalk in danger of serious injury.. that is what poped into my mind.. but the instructors did review it and gave credit for the question.. but i do understand exactly what you all are saying. and im not at alll clainming to be smart as hell or anything. i just wanted to get a third opinion!! thanks for the comments and the advice..
have a good one..
