    I need help...

I have a close soldier friend who has recently got back from deployment. He is legally married but his wife ran off with their son while he was deployed and is cheating on him with somebody else. He lives in Hawaii and she moved herself and their son to New York and won't let him see his son. Is this considering kidnapping and/or a violation of any law?

Here it would initially be a case for the court of domestic relations and he would need to get some sort of custody order. After that, if she violated it, it would be custodial interference which is a misdemeanor unless she puts the child in physical danger.

But laws vary state to state.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Have him contact his JAG corps. They will be able to help him out in filing the proper paperwork.
