I guess I'm the only one on here that works in an area that would be nearly crime free if it wasnt for crimes related to drugs. Maybe I'm lucky?

A lot of crimes have nothing to do with money or greed. Sex crimes, for instance. Also vandalism and although some murders revolve around money, not all. Same with assaults.
But even where there is greed, it's the lack of morals that allow them to steal or whatever rather than work for it. There are a lot of poor people who are honest. The trouble with our profession is that we rarely deal with them for it's easy to not realize they exist.

Different crimes have different motivations behind them.
If you're talking about the motivation behind the largest number of criminal incidents...
Budweiser beer.
Erm I would label that as a catalyst sooner that a cause. Although if you really love the stuff and have no money...
Officer retdetsgt makes some good points. I mean, why do people vandalize? In the words of a brilliant movie:
"... [S]ome men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."
And why is that incredible video ending up in all my posts?!
