Can I get ticketed while out of state for not being inspected?

I'm a PA resident and may soon be buying a used car from Ohio. PA requires inspections, so I will need to get it inspected after I buy it.

However - soon after I buy the car I will be driving out to Missouri (St. Louis) for business and will be there for a month or two. This brings up my question - if I'm unable to get the car inspected before I leave, could I be ticketed in another state (Missouri, or any other states along the way) for not having a PA inspection? I understand that Missouri also requires inspections... does this mean only that Missouri-plated vehicles must be inspected to legally be operated in Missouri, or does this apply to out of state vehicles as well?

So, to summarize: hypothetically, the car would be PA registered/insured, but uninspected, and being operated out of state (mostly in Missouri).

If the vehicle has valid license plates, you will not have a problem with the inspection in Missouri.

If the plates are expired or not valid, you could get a ticket for that, though.

The PA state inspection law is just that, a PA law. Other states are not expected to even know it rather than enforce it.
