Question about charge accounts on application

Hi, thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I am enrolled in the police academy that starts in August and I am in the process of filling out an application. There are two things that I have a questions about.

One, it says on the application "List the firms from which you have or had a charge account. List firms from whom you have borrowed money for any purpose." I assume this is referring to my bank accounts and credit cards, correct? Would this also include a charge card for a store, like Macy's? I just want to make sure I am understanding it correctly.

Two, what exactly is a civil service competitive examination?

Yes, they mean credit cards from both large banks and retailers.

Some places have standardized examinations for civil service positions. I can't answer that part better, because we don't use them here.

The question is pretty straightforward, I think. Whoever has extended you credit or a firm that has loaned you money. I don't see what's confusing about that....

Competitive examination is again, just that. You take a test and how you score on it determines your hiring eligibility. With my dept., the score on the written and oral exams are combined. If you pass the rest of the hiring process (physical agility, medical physical, background) then you are placed on a list by your aforementioned score. We hire from the top down.

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com, you get 1 free credit report every year. It should have a listing of all your credit cards from all three credit reporting agencies.
