Interview of two Police Officers (retired or active)

Hi, my name is Angie and I am pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration. I am currently working on an assignment requiring me to interview two police officers. I am hoping that somone will be able to help me by answering a few questions. So, here goes:

    Officer Information

    Gender
    Age
    Race/ethnicity
    Years experience
    Rank
    Education
Type of agency (e.g., municipal, county, etc)
    Required Questions

    1. Why did you become a police officer? Did you find what you expected? Why or why not?
    2. What are the worst parts of your job? Why?
    3. What are the best parts of your job? Why?
    4. Would you recommend policing as a career to others? Why or why not?
    5. Based on your experience, what level of education do you think police applicants should be required to possess? Why?
    6. Do you feel the same way about your police work now as you did when you first started?
    7. Do you feel you have advanced through the ranks in your department in a timely manner?
    8. What has been the most rewarding/disheartening experience during your career?

Any other comments you would like me to include are welcome, as well! I thank you in advance for any responses to my questions. I promise I will do my best to portray any responding officers in the best light I can, without knowing you personally

We get about one or two of these a month here on R.P.

The standard response is usually to tell you to go to your local police station and interview a couple of officers in person. Believe me, you will get much more out of it than trying to solicit responses from anonymous cops on the Internet.

Those few that do answer your questions here will do it with one or two word answers. Your grade will reflect the amount of effort you put into your assignment. Minimum in, minimum out.

It's not that we don't want to help out, but as Curt said you would get more out of it and we wouldn't have to do all your writing so you can cut and paste our answers.

If you have interest in being a police officer, you won't be interviewing people over the Internet, it will be face to face so this is a good opportunity to practice. Not to mention it will be a better experience for all involved! So turn off your computer and do the foot work!

    Good luck with your paper.

Thank you for your replies! I have one officer locally, just wanted to get another officer's perspective from a different area! I will work on getting another local officer.
