Hi, I'll be graduating in not too long and am planning on applying to every agency I can think of (municipal, county, state, feds, you name it). Law enforcement has appealed to me for quite a while now, but all the talk of how competitive selection can be has me a little nervous (naturally). Mainly, I'm a little worried about an incident I had back in High School. A couple of friends and I hit a few cars with paintballs and ended up getting arrested and charged with two second degree felonies (launching deadly missiles at occupied dwellings). After a night at the local juvenile detention center and a month on house arrest, the charges were dropped and my record was sealed and expunged. Other than that I've never been in any kind of trouble, never used any illegal drugs, and have gotten one speeding ticket and one for not coming to a complete stop at a sign (both a few years ago). On the plus side, I will have a BA in Criminology, and will do very well on any PT test, which leads me to another question. Should I only include past work, etc. in my resume/applications, or would it be appropriate or beneficial to include something regarding fitness? For example, I've done numerous open water swims with the longest being 13 miles, ran a marathon, and am entering an Ironman triathlon. I ask because I've had some friends tell me I should definitely include things of that nature, while others say not to.
Thanks in advance for any response and sorry for the lengthy post.
