hi, i'm daniel. I live in Dallas TX. i bought a car Friday. I have insurance on it and dealer tags. Today, May 16, 2010 i was pulled over and given a fine of $600 for illegal tint. The cop came up, introduced himself, and asked for my license and insurance. came back clean, asked me to raise my window about four inches and tested the opacity. it came out to be 18%. he then informed me that my windshield tint was also too low(below as1 mark). left and came back with the bill. okay now can i take the tint off and get the ticket dismissed?

Yes, you should take the tint off your windows unless you want more tickets! Getting the ticket dismissed is between you and the Judge at this point. Good luck.

If I were a judge and you came in and provided proof that the tint was removed, I would cut you some slack.

It really does depend on which judge you go in front of. Some judges will dismiss it if it's removed. Some wont. Make sure to bring the proof that it's gone such as a bill from the place that removed it, or a photograph of the vehicle sans tint with you holding the ticket in the picture to prove it was removed after the ticket, or that day's newspaper.
