Well I have seen first hand that it is a very hard field to get a degree in while you are working. I would rather get my schooling out of the way then have to take a break in which I may never go back. Most of my teachers understand and make exceptions for the officers in my classes but it just seems to me like such a waste of money when you can't attend the classes due to court or an overextended shift.

Get college done first. Like Jynxxie said it is hard to work and go to school. At least get your associates, get on then one at a time work on your bachlors degree. Just don't take on a lot when you work full time.

MOST departments will be VERY reluctant to hire anyone under the age of 21. As a whole 18 year olds are NOT mature enough for the job. You are still a kid. Go to college, go in the military and come back to the field with some maturity, experience and or a degree. You will test better, look better and be able to do the job BETTER.
