I need to know what to do in this situation:
I live in Florida and I was dating someone for a year and a half who had past criminal history. We signed a year lease for an apartment together, and during the summer I decided to not move in with him because of his drug use and he ended up violating his probation and will be in jail until May. Both of our names are currently on the lease, but I live somewhere new so his best friend and cousin are currently living in that apartment. These two people are destroying the place, they have caused considerable damage, and also are dealing marijuana out of the apartment and I need to get them out ASAP. His cousin currently has a VOP warrant and his best friend is an alcoholic. Would it be legal for me to just change the locks since nothing is in their names? I need to know the best way to go about this before they destroy the whole apartment and affect my credit.

Every state's eviction process is different, with different procedures, but I doubt that you may just change the locks and call it a day.

First contact the Apt manager and explain the situation. If they won't help you, you'll probably have to get a lawyer. Bad decisions can carry some horrendous consequences, can't they?

Go talk to someone local who knows your landlord/tenant civil code/rights. If your ex is allowing them to stay, you may be SOL.
