speeding ticket but was not given ticket

alright, i screwed up, i got a speeding ticket.
ive never gotten a speedign ticket before, am a safe and careful driver and hardly ever go more than 5 above on local roads and 10 on highways. I have enormous respect for police officers and am even thinking of pursueing law enforcement as a carreer, i also volunteer as an attendant in my towns ems.

this morning i was driving to school around 11:30ish, im pulled over i give the officer my lisence he goes back to his car, he isnt there for a few moments before i see him on his radio and walking back to my car. He hands me my lisence back and tells me the ticket is going to be sent in the mail.

Im wondering, are there any chances i wont recieve the ticket, or am i just getting my hopes up?

also, i heard somewhere that if they dont tell you how fast you were going or what you were getting the ticket for, and they dont answer your questions then the ticket is invalid, is this true or am i just getting my hopes up?

also if i get it, i am planning to fight it due to the fact that i cannot afford a ticket and the increase in insurance and such. Does any one have an advice to fighting it.

Does anybody have any tips on making a solid case for this.

I really do appreciate the help on this, and thank you in advance, and also apologize for using your time up for this.

    thanks, alex.

Oregon requires the citation be served in person. Hopefully, someone from NY will respond to your post.

In MN we mail citations out all the time. But I guess I have no idea about NY.

And as far as giving advice to fight the ticket...
FAT CHANCE! This is a Law Enforcement forum. We are not in the business of telling others how to get out of tickets given by our brother and sister LEO's.

If you did the crime, be a man and take what is coming. If you really want to be in LE, you will do the right thing.

No, you've got the wrong number. This is 9-1....2.

Don't forget the OLD wives tale about the officer not wearing his hat makes the ticket no good.

You came to a PRO police site on how to fight a ticket ? Why don't you just call the police dept. that gave you the ticket and ask them for such pointers??

The only thign you can hope for is that when the ticket is mailed it is certified mail and you have to sign for it. other then that neither you or the department can say for 100% certinity that you received it in the mail.

most of the things you're talking of are just tall tales. your best bet is to take it on the chin, and explain to the judge your current finacial situation. maybe they have some sort of defensive driving class you can take to keep it off of your record. we do here, and it also means it wont affect your insurance. slow down.
