Im 19 and i live near fort worth texas. i have a mother in-law who has given me hell since the day she met me. i am in the airforce and i just found out she has been calling everyone in my family and leaving them messages saying ive been in an accident.

i havent been in any accident and i feel this is crossing the line. my family is calling me up freaking out and becoming extremely angry when i tell them its a lie.

what can i do about this?

I would let her go. I know it can be frustrating, but it seems that everyone else is quickly finding out how crazy she is. She'll get what she deserves, trust me.

Well, I guess I will let her go, but if she persists, I was thinking about pursuing a restraining order, and maybe filing a report on her for her continued harrassment. I've been dealing with this for over a year, and it needs to stop. Thanks for the advice, but what legal matters could I pursue?

Well, she has said that if her mother doesn't quit harrassing us, she is cutting her out of our children's life. This has been a problem, but now my wife is 2 months pregnant and I refuse to let this go on.

Sounds like you and the Mrs. need to have a come-to-Jesus-meeting with Momma and lay down the law. It's a big deal to cut out a grandparent. Even more so that your wife will basically have to disown her own mother for it to really work.

So long as she clearly understand 2 things:

1 - the consquences of her repeated asshattery, and;

2 - that you and your wife are in complete agreement;

That should hopefully help. Otherwise, she may try to play on your wife's emotions.

Don't forget the saying that in a divorce always choose your family, you may not like 'em as much, but they'll always be family...
