Angry Neighbor believes me to be a Peeping Tom!!

I am a 52 yr. old single male in the Los Angeles Ca. area.
It has become increasingly apparent that the woman next door belives me to be a Peeping Tom. She is a 50 yr. old single mother of two.
When I mow the lawn, water the grass, trim the bushes, I over hear her barrage of baseless allegations.
Possibly my height at 6ft contribute to her illussions.

She turns on her outside floodlights when I am outside at night.
She continually monitors me for suspicious activity.
I have over heard her say, " I'll call the sheriff dept. if I see hem looking over here"
When I go outback for a smoke, I overhear her say “what’s he doing, I know he's peering through my bedroom window"”
This is not a figment of my imagination,
I have audio recorded her complaints.
Consequently I refrain from outside activities when she’s home.
When I wash dishes she rattles things around to deter me from allegedly peering through her windows. Our houses are spaced 25ft. apart, with a six ft. fence along the property line.
I can endure her absurd notions, as long as they are limited to her immediate family. My main concern is that she may eventually file a complaint.

FIRST LET ME STATE MY past experience with a LEO.
[When I reported my car stolen, the responding LEO repeatedly asserted that I crashed my car and ran home to report it stolen. I was threatend with arrest, If my car was in a accident.
My car was recovered without a scratch.]

    NOW back to my delima.
Will a LEO have preconcieved notions if I get questioned about my neighbors allegation’s? I will vehemently opose her claim, I will try to keep my cool.
Will ccircumstantial evidence work against me, Unemployed, Single, Overweight, Tall, Thick Mustash, and sometimes unshaven.
Will a claim of inocencse suffice, how can I prove to the contrary .
She may manipulate her son’s to witness her claims.
I have no witnesses, it is only me.!!
Given the seriousness of this kind of complaint, I am contemplating a visit to the SD to establish my innocence and ask for advice. If my accuser finds out that I went to the SD, she may spread her rediculouse tales through out the neighborhood. This woman has fought with city hall, she is extremely vocal. She has turned in neighbors for city code violations. She screamed at the parking enforcement officer when she received a citation.
Confronting her is not an option.

I’m uncomfortable on my property. I relocated my trashcans away from our common fence. I stay away from windows that face her house. Any noise or movement emanating from my property is viewed with suspicion.
I have taken every pre-caution againt sending the wrong signal.
    She’s violating my privacy.
Home is no longer (HOME SWEET HOME)
This is the most humuliating event in my life.
Hopefully her allegations will cease. I don’t want to go through the embarrasement of defending myself against her baseless charges. I just want to live in peace.
    Thanks for all your advice
Ps I have no criminal record

If you have done nothing wrong, going to talk to the Police about her behavior may well do you some good.

If she is as bizarre as you state, they may already be aware of her. I would start there, if I were you.

I also might consider heavy drapes on all windows on that side of the house, just to be safe.

But remember that if she files a complaint, you do not have to prove that you are innocent. She (and the police) would have to prove that you are guilty.

    Hope that helps-

Sounds like you have a crazy neighbor!!

I wouldn't walk on egg shells just because she makes comments.

Want to have a smoke on your back porch? Go right a head it's your back porch. She's worried about you looking through her bed room window? Why dosen't she have blinds or drapes on the window? Want to walk around at night? Let her turn on the flood lights it dosen't hurt her or you. Let her call the Sheriff it's not illegal to look at her house.

If it were me I'd call the PD first. But I refuse to walk around afraid of my neighbors.
    Wrong door, buddy

You are right...she is having illussions and you have a crazy neighbor. You can look where you want from your property. You can set up a lawn chair on the edge of the property facing her house all you want. No law against that.

That is dumb. Don't become a victim. Do what you need or want to do.

Let her. You did nothing wrong. But maybe you should call your local area (county or city) department of senior services or mental health/welfare and let them know you have a neighbor who appears emotionally disturbed and exhibiting signs of hallucinations and paranoid activity.

There are thousands of cops, and mos do not. But there is one of you. Don't take you only interaction with one cop make you have preconceived notions of what all cops are like.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

I don't know what concerns me more ... her verbalizing these allegations, or you letting it consume your life.

If you are doing nothing wrong, then live on and let her do and say what she's going to, especially since there's nothing you can do to stop that

Either you have a guilty conscious, or her concerns are warranted.

I recommend that you live your life, and not worry about what a neighbor alleges. Of course this is assuming that you are doing nothing illegal, which you adamantly state you are.

If she decided to call the police, I would hope that they will be able to determine from their discussions with the both of you, that you are legitimate and she has a problem.

Bottom line, if you are doing nothing wrong, get back to doing what you do without walking on eggshells on your own property.
