On the Nj firearms app. it says this:
Have you ever been convicted of a crime in New Jersey or a criminal offense in another jurisdiction where you could have been sentenced to more than six months in jail that has not been expunged or sealed? If yes, list date(s), place(s) and crime(s).

i have been convicted of possession of marijuana (misdemeanor) and had a conditional discharge there was no jail sentence and have never been in trouble before that or after what if anything do i need to write in here?

If you can't figure out how to fill out the form, I'm leary of you figuring out when you could be justified in using it. I'm not even certain of your actual question.

But as for your question. The application asks:

You have bene convicted of a misdemeanor in NJ. A misdemeanor is a crime. The answer on the application is "YES."
