While the verified LEO's on RP are willing to answer genuine police related questions, you will need to do the following prior to posting a thread:

1) introduce yourself in this section:
New Member Introductions - Real Police: Law Enforcement,Police Officer,Criminal Justice,Background Checks website...

2) take the time to conduct a search to determine if your question has been asked before. There is a "search this forum," option on the right side of the page above the threads, or you can click on this link:

3) don't attempt to use this section as a means to have your homework done by the verified LEO's

4) When you create a thread, list the applicable State where your question initiates from. This will help the LEO offering their advice, since laws vary from state to state.



Things to consider before submitting your thread:

If your post is inflammatory, juvenile, or intended to stir the pot, it will be locked/edited or deleted, and your posting privileges will be in jeopardy.

Does your post make sense, and does it follow simple logic that can be easily understood?

Does your post contain proper grammar, capitalization, paragraphs, punctuation, etc.? These are important and helpful to those reading your post, and will assist in getting an appropriate reply.

Some friendly advice:

Keep in mind, none of the LEO's in this section are obligated to answer your question(s), as they do so voluntarily. If the time is taken to reply, you may or may not be happy with the answer.

There is a wide range of law enforcement personnel on RP, ranging from Municipal, County, State and Federal agencies, therefore, replies may vary. In the end, you should always seek the advice of the agency you are applying for, or contact an attorney in any legal issue.

Lastly, respect works both ways, if you show it, you should receive it on the other hand, if you don't like the answer you receive, and decide to openly criticize the LEO(s) who furnished the information, you will jeopardize your posting privileges on the forum.
