Wondering if I'm disqualified

I was wanting to apply for the Police Department but was wondering if i might be disqualified due to some file sharing i was involved in when i was younger.
A student at college i was using a file sharing program to download music and videos about three years ago. I used limewire for only a couple of songs but then got involved in DC++ because i heard from a friend that it was legal. The reasoning was that it was split between only certain members of the University and therefore not an open torrent. I had my suspicions but downloaded music and movies anyway. I had about 90 movies and 2GBs of music downloaded when it was confirmed to me that although DC++ wasnt illegal many of the downloads i had done had been. Upon realization i deleted all of my movies and music from my computer and haven't downloaded anything since. That was about three years ago. Would/should this disqualify me from applying to the police department?

Probably not. Just be upfront about it.

I may be in error, but I haven't heard of people being charged criminally with file sharing, just civilly.

Seriously, I know there are civil implications to downloading music/movies but not sure it would disqualify you or even be brought up. I could be wrong though, but be honest with the BI and you should be fine!

I've heard of PA State Police disqualifying people for that but as a general rule I would say you are good if you are upfront.
