Not saying that at all Sir. For the most part, I'd rather have cops procreate that the all the stupid and criminal people I see breeding like rats/cockroaches.

IMO, a parent's first responsibility is the "proper" raising of their children. IMO, the unpredictability/irregularity of LE work often makes it extremely difficult (as opposed to a security gig which is much more "normal" or "regular"). The OP didn't write how many kids, how old/mature, what other resources if any were available, etc.

I have 2 and, right now, I'm not able to spend Anywhere Near the amount of time that I Should be spending with them (they also aren't able to babysit for themselves yet) - and I'm not a single parent. If I were a single parent and didn't have my in-laws nearby to help, I'd probably be doing something else other than LE or at least not working Patrol - that is, until the kids were old enough to babysit themselves...

lol I am actually in a relationship with an LEO.He is aware of my goal and is very supportive but if it came down to it my goals are more important to me than any relationship I could have. If they like me then they like all of me including my goals. As for child care I use a 24/7 daycare. I also have family nearby as well as friends that I use as backup childcare. I'm the type of person that when I put my mind to it I can do anything. Im already very strong minded so I doubt becoming an LEO will change that.

I have 1 child and she is 4 yrs. old. I work graveyards so my schedule sometimes does cause problems but I work them out. My daughter is excited for what I do and has actually told me that she "wants to be a cop when she gets big." I think it's great.

If that's what you want then go for it!!

But like the others I agree it's tough but it can be done. I'm another who go the BS and 99% of my Masters while working. As stated, family, work, and school... it's tough but it can be done.
    Wrong door, buddy
