    Road Rage

Hi, I am new here this place seems pretty cool I didnt see an introduction page but if I am missing it I apologize. The main reason I joined here though is to maybe get some help in this situation I am in. I dont want to go to the police station yet so I figured maybe I could get something online. Tonight on my way home from work I was driving and by accident I mustve cut someone off when I was switching lanes even, (even though it was because he was riding everyone's tail and going fast) it was an accident though. So I stop at the red light and the kid pulls next to me and rolls down the window and starts cursing and threatening me "What are you f**ing stupid? You almost took the front of my car off you dumb f**k! You are lucky my girl is here or Id kick your a** you better hope I dont see you on the road again you fa**ot ill run your a** down".

That is the most I remember from it I am sure he said some more things, during this entire time I am telling him "my bad man if I cut you off it was an accident i dont want any trouble my bad im sorry" those were my exact words all while he kept on cursing and yelling at me. To the point though my question is can I do anything about this to report him? There is nothing I did to deserve that and it was obvious he was just being an immature tough guy because that is the "cool" thing around your girlfriend. I am so disappointed because I was going to take a picture of his plates with my phone but my battery was dead and I am not really good with cars I dont know what he was driving. With this little bit though all I have is my word against his really, unless the light has a camera they still cant hear what he said. I am not worried about seeing him on the road again but it is a threat and I really would like to see him prosecuted or something because it was pathetic and immature. I was just so scared at first because he pulled right next to me I dont know if he has a gun or anything and it was a red light. Any help or advice would be appreciated though thank you for reading.

If you can't identify his car, even the make or model, it would be tough to prosecute him because how would you expect the police to locate him? You would also need to be able to identify him.

I'd say just forget about it unless you are able to identify either him or at least the car...

Well, I can identify him and even the girl passenger and it was only a two door black car. Looking at some pictures I think it is a Hyundai Coup but that is just a guess. Do you think they could access the street light because I know the time and say I could identify him and the car...would I have something legitimate against him?

The car would be the link to finding him. Knowing the make and model itself doesn't help that much. You would need the plate somehow.

Oh, man that bothers me so much because I was ready to take a camera phone pic but I couldnt it was dead! I guess I might have to forget it then and it may sound immature but I would love to see him get caught and punished for doing what he did. I guess I will try one last time tomorrow to see if the street light had any cameras because it really is bothering me. Just one more thing though if I get lucky and identify him could he be prosecuted? Thank you though I appreciate the time and help

You would need to specify the state, but here in PA he would at the most receive a summary citation for disorderly conduct, punishable by a fine that could range from $25-$500.

Bear in mind that you also could be cited for cutting him off if he wanted, at least in PA.

I'm glad we dont have silly statues titled " road rage " as the catch phrase goes. It's like 'gunmen' in my view. Silly terms either way.

And to the OP, no theres no offense here other than a ticket for disorderly conduct, and thats impossible for the officer to write even if he did find the car as he didn't witness the offense.

Next time roll up your windows and drive away. Being pathetic and immamture is not illegal.

...and your faith in existing technology is not realistically based, either.

Ever heard of a pencil and paper? Back of an envelope will work in a pinch, too. I've used my palm before, but you can only use it so many times before you run out of room. Dinner makes notes on them impossible to read as well... since you have to wash your hands and all.

Unless you are in Jolly Old England, I don't know of very many places in the US where streets are recorded by the Government for posterity... unless "CSI-Miami" told you that. In that case, I must be mistaken.

IF the light had a camera, (and that's one big if, BTW) it will be one of two types, the type that snaps a relatively high-rez still of a small area to catch red light runners, or a low-rez traffic flow type that would be difficult to identify anything.

Neither of those would be acceptable for viewing in the offense you have described. If you did not identify the vehicle make/model or get the plate number, you are pretty much out of luck.

Even if you can't do anything, just trust that karma usually gets guys like that in the end.

He was just talking out his ***. People using their girlfriend as an excuse to not fight generally won't start a fight even in she's not there.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

    "Wrong door, buddy!"
