Communal showers at police academies?

I've always been a guy who likes to shower alone. I don't shower at the gym or anywhere else like that, simply because I like my privacy - I'd rather not have certain parts of me exposed for all to see. Prudish? Perhaps.

After PT at a non-residential academy, does everyone have to pile into one large shower room together, or are there private showers so everyone can enjoy a brief washdown without worrying about being seen naked?

You do realize that this type of question is COMPLETELY dependent on whose academy it is, and what facilities they possess, don't you?

Why don't you call the academy you are interested in and ask...

We had separate showers at my academy. When they rebuilt the facility the made new communal showers.

Even with separate showers it didn't keep most of the freaks from running by naked.

Trust me, you'll be so close to your academy mates that showering together will be the least of your concerns. Especially after a few hours of wrestling around with them during PT.

Yes, and you are required to soap each other down for the first three months, with liquid soap only. As was said above, sword fighting is part if the curriculum as it applicable to defensive tactics.

This isn't high school gym. I cannot think of a single instance in either the academy or in the Navy (or in my gym, for that matter) where I have seen a rat tail applied to someone in the locker room. Wouldn't that be a great thing to be counseled for at the academy?

FLETC has a community shower. The Navy has community showers. They are cheaper than the individual shower. You are there to clean up, not compare equipment size. If your pt class wasn't the last thing of the day, you will have to hurry to get to your next class on time. I am not an exhibitionist and prefer to shower alone, but it doesn't bother me to shower in a group, either. It is simply something you get used to.

I don't know about everyone else's academy but we used to call it a helicopter shower. Run in twirl around a few times and run out. We had like 100+ using a locker room that was designed for maybe 50. Take into account that you have about 10 15 mintues to get in shower, change and then make it to your next class.

The police academy, like boot camp, is one of those places where modesty dosen't play a big part.
