psychological problem? probably, as deep as he's letting on? (part of the reason i spoke up) probably significantly more than he's letting on. would these issues be integral to his success as a police officer? being a self confidence issue, perhaps, as an old and very painful memory, probably not. what if it's something along the lines of him missing a nut etc. you reckon he's going to tell you about that after 95% of the people on this board just made fun of him for less than that?
you reckon that since these are all people who went through the academy here making fun of him for shit they probably don't know about, that if he did have a more significant problem than he's letting on, that you probably just proved in his mind that at least a few cops in his class would be making snide comments at in opportune times during his academy time?
should things like this be expected, yeah, but i (my parents and anyone i consider a friend) have always considered the people who act this way as lesser for having either a need to act this way or lacking the knowledge to know any better.
unfortunately off the street, but working on a 2-Year CJ Degree (40% Finished).

Thanks, you just made my point for why he shouldn't be a cop. Lord knows, he won't get any verbal abuse on the street, will he? Yeah, he's got some problems beyond modest. You want to work with someone like that, fine. But the rest of us don't.
I guess I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be looking closely enough to notice if he was missing a nut or not? Nor could I imagine anyone I went to the academy with caring if they did.
On a side note, did going back to college make you forget who to write properly and use capitalization? You write like the kids on AAC.![]()
I wonder? Does he fit the definition of nutless?Be Safe.

Big,
You have no idea what you are talking about. You are a new member around here, just like a rookie in a new station. Usually rookies keep their mouth shut on stuff and keep their ears open until they become familiar with everything. When they on't they get hammered. And get ready to be hammered.
You don't know many of us and obviously don't know this board. You want to feed out BS and sugar coat things and make others believe they are "OK" and have a chance at things they don't, head over to that forum. We do things differently here.
1) First, this board was designed for cops. Then it allowed the others.
2) You said: "....tear this guy a new one for asking a question that from jump probably had to do, one way or another, with him being embarrassed (rightly or not) about something that is no one else's business.a) Nobody tore him anything. We responded. We didn't ask him to post any dumb questions. In very short time, he asked several DUMB questions. Questions that lead one to believe, under the totality of the circumstances, there is more to the story. And those with experience on here, see where it was going:
b) If your embarrassed about anything in your life and you are going to be a cop, you better get over it, and do so quickly, or your co-workers will make your life hell.
c) You said it was nobody Else's business. It was until he posted it on a public internet forum asking cops for their opinion.
HE DOES NOT APPEAR QUALIFIED TO BE A COP! Maybe you want that person next to you when taking a door, but I do not. He is already showing signs of self-confidence issues; lack of interest in the position by worrying about having a week off in a non-residential academy; is unable to take criticism on a internet forum when made fun of which means he should be a real treat in person when confronted; his replies are defensive in nature, in a manner that shows a lack of maturity; his replies indicate he still thinks that world is about him, and not others.
In your own words you "....left LE to finance my MS Degree in CJ by being a long haul trucker...." Guess you weren't around long enough to learn the job or you didn't like it enough to stay. That is fine. You are still kid yourself at 29.
And by your experience you posted on here:
a) Been a night shift security officer at a hospital
b) Sold cars at a Ford dealership
c) Sold cars at a Dodge dealership
d) Security at a grocery store in Montana
e) Four year degree
f) Did time in the U.S. Army which you wanted to do for life, however during your last year you came to the "realization you didn't want to work in a profession where someone could get away with some of the stuff they did to you." You had the option to stay or leave, and you chose to leave.
You are 29 now. In 02/2006, you were 26. That is when you were hired as a Deputy Sheriff out in Chouteau Co Montana. Since you were not POST certfied you went to an academy. That means you really became a cop around August 2006. In June 2006 you disappeared from here and reappear in 2009. You state you have been driving a truck for about a year now. Well its Nov 2009 which means you have been out of police work since Nov 2008. So you basically were a cop on the street from 8/2006 to 11/2008.
You are not a cop and not eligible to keep your verified tag. Expect to see that go.
Don't roll around with you holier than now attitude that we crushed his dreams, were insensitive, etc...... It appears it was not for you and you left and rather than waste taxpayer money and take away the job from another candidate, we are giving him some insight what he is in for, and maybe, he won't waste his time, and quite possibly, get somebody killed out there. If you don't like, nobody is making you read the numerous post you disagree with nor post about it here.
Don't pretend you are a cop. You are not. You never made it. You left by choice, not due to retirment or a injury. You had "issues" with the brass and yoru co-workers. Obviously you related to the original posters "issues." PM him with your sob story and lack of ability to conform. Good luck in your future.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

+1.
IF you come back to LE, then you can look for your tag. It is my opinion that you should no maintain it. Furthermore, I agree with Joey completely here. I hardly think you have the foundation to speak to this topic with any authority.
Most who have had any substantial time in LE and/or military knows that this is a non-issue. No one jumped anyone's $h1t here. They merely made it clear in a light-hearted fashion how silly and of little concern this topic really is in the grand-scheme of things.
So, while you have your tag, take advantage of all the time you can in coddling people in the ask-a-cop section that you can. Just be prepared to be called out on it.

When the wolf attacks, he will find not all who run with the flock are sheep!
I don't have a problem with you defending him. That being said, given the current trend of his questions, are you still going to be defending him half a dozen questions from now?
IMO, from the kinds of questions he's been asking, the OP is seeing LE through some thick rose-colored/romantic glasses. If you want to be that sharp looking guy/gal in a suit like you see on TV and in the movies, you're gonna (MOST LIKELY) have to put some work in, pay your dues, learn/experience some things, endure some/alot of BS, deal with a lack of privacy issues, work an anti-family schedule, among many other things.
Added: I didn't count but it looked like there were at least a dozen posts stating that what the OP was concerned about regarding showers/privacy would really be a NON-ISSUE. Like I wrote before - The people you might be showering with may someday be saving your life and/or vice versa - "nasty scarring" or whatever other physical "imperfections" you or someone else might have DOESN'T MEAN SH!T.

The locker room crowd never gave anyone any shit over anything serious. But wear funny looking shoes to work and you better not be thin skinned!
A lot of what I miss about work was the back and forth bantering, flipping each other crap over meaningless things. But you know when push comes to shove, those guys will be risking their own lives in a heartbeat to save yours.
Oh trust me when I say I know all about the funny looking shoe thing. Quite a few people, including brass personnel, have no idea who I am until someone says, "you know, that guy with the effed up shoes..." - then the light comes on... ohhhh yeah THAT guy...![]()
I think I may have posted a picture of them before... don't remember... lol
