I have a lifelong goal of joining the military getting out and becoming a police officer,i have a half sister who is a lifelong criminal, ran away when she was 15 has been in and out of jail/prison her entire adult life, she has a rap **** that includes everything fromtraffic tickets to carrying firearms to prostitution to drug distribution and breaking and entering charges, will she hurt my chances, and if so would it be possible to disown her, ihaven't had much to do with her and never will.

What's a "rap ****?" Is that like a Hip Hop Dump?

To answer your question, as long as you are not involved in those same activities, it likely will be a non-issue. You can pick who you associate with, and what you do, but you can't pick who your family is or what they decide to do with their lives (criminal or otherwise).

You do need to work on your grammar, though.

+1 to what ROS said. You can't choose your relatives, and your family generally won't be held against you...

...provided you have taken measurable steps to distance yourself from any criminal behavior, and have never engaged in any. Also, that you do not actively associate with known criminals (related or not).

Personal experience: My sister was heavy into drugs and God knows what else. My mother was also a drug addict and alcoholic.

So just like the others said, what your family does won't be held against you as long as you keep your nose clean.

    Actual conversation with suspect
Suspect: Why am I under arrest?
    Me: For posession of CDS.
Suspect: Man, it wasn't CDS! It was E pills!
