Police Patch Question

I have a question and I figure this is a good place to start. A good friend of mine passed away last year from cancer. He had an extensive (many boxes) police patch collection he had collected over a good many years. His parents just contacted me and asked if I could help determine it's value and possibly help them to sell it. Any sound advise would be greatly appreciated.
