Am I TOAST? Or should I still apply?

Hi all, here’s the deal
I'm almost finished with my B.A in Pre-Law studies and I can't decide weather I would like to go to law school or try a career in Law Enforcement. I heard the crazy story about being DQ for crazy things and I was wondering would it be a waste of time if I applied.

The Bad: I tried pot at age 18 and twice at age 22(none before or after that). At age 18 I bought pot for personal use and didn’t want it so I gave to one of my friends. I had a relationship with three girls that might be consider questionable. At age 18 I had girlfriend of 8 months that lied about her age she was 16. At the age 19 had had a girlfriend of 10 months that was 17 for 2 months in the relationship and at age 22 I had a one nighter with a girl that lied about her age. The way I found out was that I became close to her family and eventually found out her real age. I am now 25 and would be 27 before I apply, I’ve be married for over a year and I have worked as a Sheriffs Deputy for 2 yrs in the past but they didn’t do that polygraph stuff. Will this stuff DQ me? The only time I have be caught doing something illegal was for was driving on a suspend license in which I was ticketed for and paid the the fine. My license is has be reinstated for over 2 years now and 4 year before I apply. Also I was informed that credit was also a factor. My Credit score is at 640. So should I still look at law enforcement or just go to law school?

Thanks

Why was your license suspended? Be Safe.

You were a Deputy Sheriff, but they didn't have a polygraph.

Did you lie about these things when you applied there? Because if you did, don't bother to apply anywhere else.

I wasn't asked none of these things and some of them had not occured yet? I was a Deputy Sheriff in New Orleans at age 20 and was relocated by Katrina. I was not polygraph for the job.

You smoked marijuana either while or after you were already a cop?

That's no good at all.

And you seem to have been with an awful lot of dishonest girls...

What a strange coincidence...

Iam being honest here sir,

I smoked pot before being hired and once following Katrina (depression or something i guess)
As far as the girls go, girls lie sometime. If you go meet their parents and spend nights over at their homes you tend to assume they are of age. Plus I was only a year or two older than them. I know I can't lie about this, so i willing to disclose all of this up front.I just want to know if it would DQ me up front.

You got hired at 20 to be a deputy Sheriff.

You admit to using marijuana TWICE at 22. So, that is at least two times of use after you were sworn in (though you may have already left the job, I don't know).

Will you be automatically disqualified? I don't know.

Will you have a tough time getting hired? Probably.

Would I hire you? Not a chance. Using drugs after having been a cop is a very poor indicator of responsibility, IMHO.

So when you see that 3 yo that has been beaten by her dirt bag father and you feel all shitty in side, you gonna go light up a doobie?

To your original question, go study law. There is no room in Law Enforcement for the 95%'ers..

Wow, that is a wee bit heartbreaking. I really don't understand that. At the time I had went to the academy, I was just assign to a cell block. I wasn't working the streets. I was no longer working for the sheriffs dept and I was still relatively young. Does that have any bearing you think?

Maybe to some. Not to me.

You took an oath to uphold the law, and you still obtained and used illegal drugs after that. You were old enough to be a deputy sheriff, you should have been old enough to know that you were making a very bad decision.

Actions have consequences.

lol.. c'mon man! I grew up in New Orleans. I have smoked pot maybe 4x in 25 years of living. Thats a little unfair for you to say that. I was abandon by my Sheriff after I evacuated hundreds of inmates from our jail. I was left amongst the crazies for 6 full days in a drowning city and I kept my uniform on. I not some hippy that burns every time i have a bad day.
