You call it "narrow mindedness" we call it "standards" and "common sense". Go ahead and apply if you'd like to waste your time. I'm sure it'll make you feel better to get officially denied.

Well, aren't YOU pretentious??? But that's NOT what you asked about.
And I'm hardly a 'self righteous geezer'. I can, however, tell the difference between right and wrong, then abstain from the 'wrong' things, unlike you.

No, no, no. Not a Prefect. I have ZERO judicial aspirations. You are correct though that I've never committed a criminal act. Well, I did steal candy when I was 10 I think. I didn't want to be a cop until I was around 16 or so. Figured I would have to be a good boy to get in so, even through my military service, I kept my head and chose to NOT do stupid things which would get me jammed up later.
I realize you don't have the same kind of drive as I do. However, YOU'RE the idiot who smoked weed after having been appointed to the position. No matter what excuse you want to give or what label you want put on yourself or others, the fact remains that you made a conscious adult decision to commit a crime. You're the only one who can't own up to it and the fact that it's screwed up your chances as a career in law enforcement.
Oh, and you're welcome!

Its funny, but I don't think they do all this judging of peoples mistakes when you aspire to be a public servant in other fields. Maybe I'll become a DA or something, I still would like to do my part in enforce the law. Apparently im not perfect enough to cop but I settle for a prosecutor. Or is there a cap on that one also. huh, Sgt? And I hardly doubt that stealing at ten years old is your only thing. That should of DQ you, thieves are the worst. I have never taken anything that wasn't mine. At lease I can say that.
Good Day Sir

Sounds to me like you'd make an excellent lawyer.
To answer your original question, at my agency you would "be TOAST" as you put it. Smoking weed after being a sheriff? Seriously?

"Depression or somthing I guess"... basically, whatever B.S. defense you think someone will believe? That's a ridiculous excuse for not only a criminal act, but a complete lack of sound judgment needed to be a cop.

Why is it that D-bags like yourself, try to justify your f*#& ups as OUR problem of "Acceptance".
You knew the law and consciously broke it. Instead of bit%#ing about your situation, why not act like the adult you wanna be and conduct something beneficial with your life. Place enough good deeds down on your record, maybe people will give you a second glance.
But for now, gtfo..

Based on your actions, after being sworn, law enforcement is out of the question
In the end, there's just no excuse for smoking marijuana while employed in LE - ever.
Good luck in law school.
