    Traveling to New York City

Im flying to NYC for Christmas this year and Im wondering about flying with my gun and carrying it in the city.

I know HB218 covers me, but I have heard stories about officers from out of state having problems..

Any NYPD guys, or other officers who have traveled there have any input...

Also packing tips for my firearm and the airport? I hate to get there and have problems..

BTW- Im a fully certified police officer in Georgia.. I just havent updated my profile..

    Thanks..

If you have your badge and creds, and plan on using a legitimate holster (not just tucked in the waistband), and fully understand that NY requires CONCEALED carry (aka- don't flash it around), you will no problems at all. None. I do suggest though you have a badge in view close to your weapon (aka- on the belt next to the holster).

Just follow TSA rules on packing and you will be fine.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

    2) This is probably a question better for the verified side.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

Here is all you need to know about firearms on commercial aircraft. Just follow the information and you will have no problems.

    TSA: Traveling with Special Items

The LEOSA is explicit in its directives. Carry your Departmental identification card, your badge and your department Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act, Public Law 108-277 certification while in NYC. Do not display your weapon without proper need just like at home. Act natural and no one will know or care.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence!
