Can a motorist make it any easier? :wow:

I had one of those "special people" behind me today on the highway. The kind that if you were to slow down 1/10mph, they would collide with your rear.

I moved over so the "gentleman" could pass only to watch in amazement as he proceeded to do the same exact thing to a marked cruiser

The Trooper moved over in front of me and let "the gentleman" floor it straight ahead. Of course only to have the Trooper slide back behind him and light him up.

Now at a regular pace, not stop and go traffic, this is actually the second time in about 5 years I've witnessed something to this effect. (Both times in the opposite direction of any medical facilities and no "volunteer lighting").

My question, especially to the Trooper's or Highway Patrol in particular is, are motorists often that dumb or have I seen two anomalies?

Take care to all & please stay safe!!

    Tim

Yep people are oblivious. Had a similar one the other day. Except they passed me on the right, then cut me off and floored to and I lite the up after they hit 20 over. Big surprise, no insurance and a suspended license. Swear they never saw even though it was a fully marked cruiser they passed and then almost hit.

    Happens way too often

Lady backed up into the front of my patrol car yesterday at a train crossing. To people who are that stupid, it doesn't matter if you are driving a fully marked hot air balloon down the street, they aren't going to notice.

Yes, people really are that stupid.

To most, driving a car is no different than running an obstacle course. Get over, get under, get around, get through, get past, etc

Let's not forget the DUI's that smack into small trees at night and drop their whole bumper with the plate.

That very well could have been me walking my dog as it wasn't that late, I love to see people get what they deserve especially when it requires minimal effort to catch them quickly.

People who are running late for meetings, school, work, etc. often develop tunnel vision. They are so intent to get where they are going, they will overtake and pass a marked unit with regularity. Then, when stopped, complain that you were hiding out of plain sight. Yep! It happens all of the time. No anomolies out there.

I was passed in a marked car during the middle of a snowstorm, I was going 45 in a 55. I pulled the guy over and wrote him for passing in a no passing, and speed to fast for conditions. We got to court and he claimed there was no way I could tell it was a no passing zone because the lane was covered with snow and ice.

    Guilty on both counts.

He met up with me the following week and argued with me again because he didn't think it was right that I wrote him a ticket.

I wrote a guy a ticket in 2007 for doing that to me. Stayed only half a car length behind me, couldn't even see his headlights over my trunk. He then called in a complaint on me. Sgt told him to take it to court if he had an issue with it.. Never did..

I call those people, "ME FIRST" people. They believe their agenda is more important than everyone else on the road. You should be ashamed of yourself for wasting their time with your petty tickets. They have places to go and people to see. HA. I put one of those, "ME FIRST" people in jail on Monday for Reckless Driving. Be Safe.
