Hi, what is police code J3?

    Hi,

This is a strange question but perhaps officers in Illinois, or anywhere else, can help explain this.

    Question:
    >>> What is police code J3?

    Situation:
I was pulled over for front tinted windows which are not allowed in Illinois. I had moved from Florida where the tints are legal.

I gave the officer my Illinois license and registration and he radioed the info in. After a bit, we started a friendly chat about food, Florida and the folks of Harvard.

After a few minutes, his dispatch calls back to clarify and he replies, "definitely not a J3."

You see, I'm a asian male-to-female transsexual who passes pretty much 100% with feminine voice and physical appearance.

My license photo is completely female--long hair, cute face--but the gender marker is "male". He may have not seen that marker AND my name is completely foreign so it's not giving off flags. Plus I have DDD boobs, so it's hard not to see the female bits.

So, if anyone can help, what is a J3?

Does it denote gender? non violent? no assistance needed?

He was clarifying something his dispatcher asked--I'm assuming it has to be that <gender> discrepancy. However, being of curious mind, I would be nice to have a concrete answer.

I know codes in jurisdictions are different and I've looked all over the web but can't find them for Harvard Illinois. McHenry county.

Thanks in advance and keep safe.

Yeah, seriously. My guess is she's looking for something to help her identify some kind of discrimination.

Maybe the radio traffic confirmed that you are "definitely not as cute" as you thought, as I think J3 is code for cute.

Then again, maybe we LEOs on here think that the jargon serves a purpose when dealing with the public and we prefer to not disclose it. You may be able to find it on the internet, but you won't find it on here. It would definitely qualify as police tactics.
