ADVICE NEEDED: Firefighter thinking of switching to Police

I posted my question on this forum and two other police forums and it seems a lot of Law Enforcement Officers are very much upset by the fact that the public doesn't love them as much as firefighters. For the guys/gals who have been doing this job for a while: is it really hurtful? didn't you know getting into this profession that people distrust and dislike cops more than, say, firemen?

Why are you ASSuming that I'm "upset" or "hurt"? Where in my post did I state or suggest that I was "upset" or "hurt"? Nowhere. FWIW, I have an academy classmate who is LACO Fire. My station and our three local fire stations have a great working relationship.

BTW, there was NO misinterpretation about the adrenaline junkie characteristics shown in your posts. And it also Sounds like you haven't seen/experienced much as a firefighter either...
