    Corrections

New to this site but am looking for more info. on becoming a corrections officer. Was set to join the academy when I was 18 but got married, pregnant and stayed home to raise the kids. I'm now a 40 yr. old female who has always had a passion for LE. I had an officer who is a friend recommend this avenue. Have done lots of research but looking for more "real" information. Could be on the wrong site but thought I'd give it a try. Thanks for your time. I am also thinking about finishing up my BA in criminal justice.

If it interests you, go for it! Most of us on this site are law enforcement (i.e. the cops on the streets vice in the jails/prisons), but a few have worked in corrections, and most all of us have interacted with corrections.

There's also a corrections forum on this site, where some (the Ask A Cop forum is restricted to only LEO's answering questions, vice CO's) of your questions specific to corrections may be better answered.

Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.

What state, Country? (Remember the internet is global)

Most states in the US have some type of physical agility test along with an extensive background check. You can do some searches on the site and get a few good posts with information on background processes.

    Welcome to the site..

If that's what you want then go for it. But remember corrections be it a county jail or a prison just about everyone you come into contact with is a certified dirtbag.

Some people love it and some hate it. You'll never know which you are till you try.

Corrections, county jail or prison, is HARD work. It's demanding and very stressful. Being a cop is thankless enough, but corrections folks get even less appreciation than us for the work they do. It can also be a good avenue into other areas of law enforcement.
