But seriously, I am looking for some well thought out answers. I need actual opinions for a class. And before you say "We're not here to do your homework", I must tell you that this is considered optional. I am only here to strengthen my argument by having actual testimony.

It's for Mock Trial and we are dealing with an issue regarding the First Amendment. If no one is intent on providing some sort of articulate response then I will be gone. You seem annoyed that I would ask a legitimate question in a forum call "Ask a Cop".

Yes. You have the right to flip off a cop. You cannot be convicted of a crime in America for expressing yourself.

Having said so, I have a great deal of discretion in how to do my job.

For instance, I have the option in all of my traffic contacts to warn, cite, or arrest. A poor attitude can effect how I use my discretion.

No, I guess not. I wade through blood and guts day after day, I deal with little girls getting raped, women getting beat till they are bloody, clean up brains on the road after a drunk driver plows into a family, and still go home and hug my kids and try to lead a normal life. I personally think he should go out and put his question to the test. If he was really serious and wants to excel in school, I would do a real test and flip off every cop that goes by him, he is sure to find one man.
