    Oral Interview question for CHP

Im a bit nervious for my interview which takes place on 10/7. I have some questions/concerns. Im 24 turning 25 next month when I was 20/21 I was working at Sam's club in the cafe area, I use to not pay for my lunch which is considered stealing I admitted to that. BUT while working there I also took some money totalling to about 400 bucks Sam's brought some investigators (I don't believe it was because of the money just because our department sucked at they fired a few of us) I got nervious and admitted to taking the money, they told me if I repaid it there would be no record of it so I did so and got fired for "wasting company time" I didn't disclose the money stealing part to the CHP. Do you guys think they will find this out in my background and get me dropped? When I called Sam's Club to get the dates I worked there I asked, Why I got fired the HR lady told me it doesnt say just says non-rehireable should I worry?

One more time my work history when I was younger is pretty bad I quit my first job with no 2 week notice, I got fired from my 2nd (Sam's) I quit my 3rd which was Fed-Ex after 11 days with no notice but I've had good job history for the past 4 years and continue to work there.

Thanks for any input sry about making this a novel

I don't know which is worse. The actual thefts you committed or that fact that you are asking if a BI will find out about what you left out. Tell them the truth, including what you forgot to disclose, and let the chips fall where they will. If you aren't willing to do that, you don't belong in LE. Not that your chances are that good.

I would say that it does not look too good, young man. Lying is pretty much an automatic dismissal. You were warned, when completing your work history and background history, that lying is not tolerated. You signed the forms stating that everything you submitted is the truth and that you did not withold any information.

My suggestion is that you immediately contact your background inverstigator and come clean. If you get dismissed, start the process over again and be honest in all aspects.

Sorry, but you asked. Good luck in the future.

I thought if I admitted to stealing money its an instant DQ from being in LE is that true? I feel like if I tell them now its too late, what if they dont find out remember they told me if I pay what I took which I did the info wouldnt be available to anyone. I work at a casino now which I had to pass a extensive background check to get my class A license and I passed it with no problem they have background investigators also to check everything from credit history to previous jobs to criminal records, So idk if I should try and see what happends...

"But, but, but... if I admit I was fired for stealing, I won't get the job".

Do you honestly expect anyone here to agree with you?

I think if you do actually get hired, it won't be long before you're on the news for doing something to give the good men and women of the CHP a black eye.

As much as we try to prevent it, thieves and liars do manage to slip through the cracks from time to time. Background investigators are good, but they're not perfect. The screening process itself isn't perfect.

Fortunately, most of the rotten apples never last long before they do something stupid and get thrown in jail.

Unfortunately, it's the rest of us that have to pay the price in lost public trust.

For my own part, I'm glad you're not in my state.

Please, do not presume to think that our background investigators are incompetent and lack the ability of thoroughness. It will be found out and you will be exposed as a liar - grounds for immediate dismissal on your application.

You have deliberately overlooked the incident and failed to list the act(s) on your application. Do you truly believe that the information will go unnoticed? After all, you publically posted your misdeeds in this forum. What am I, in this forum, chopped liver?

    LE don't need you.

    Sorry.
