    Civil Liberties?

I need to interview a law enforcment official for a school project but i found this forum and decided it would be more efficient to ask several officers and listen to all that take there time to answer. I thank everyone in advance.

    Question:
How do you law enforcment officials conduct your job in order to avoid abusing the rights of those whom you apprehend? Do you think we go too far in protecting the rights of the accused?

Thanks again in advance! Greatly aprreciated.

    1. We know the law, that's our job.

    2. No, besides the court makes those decisions, not the police. Basic civics.

Either you or your "teacher" have an agenda that you want to get out in the open?

Sounds like someone assumes that "Rights" are automatically "abused" all of the time.

    Yuppers.

You see, contrary to the crap that is continually spewed out by the media, LE has historically used too little force in effecting arrests. Using too little force is the major contributing factor of injuries to both the LEO AND the bandit.

But, I have already said too much... I am not big on homework these days (unless it involves heloing my kids out with theirs, that is).

Here is what we in Law Enforcement call a CLUE!

The US Constitution guarantees your "rights", all too often
the public (you and your teacher) forget that with those rights come responsibilities as a Citizen. Perhaps a more redeeming question would be "What are my responsibilities as a United States Citizen?"

I agree that the wording of the question shows a predisposition. However, I also think that kudos are in order for coming to the horse's mouth for responses, knowing that the anonymous nature of the forum will most likely lead to a rather robust verbal whipping.

I do think that these stereotypes need to be addressed by professional LEOs. Some young people dont know any better, having been raised on a diet of lib professors and Snoop Dog albums. PM sent.
