Disorderly conduct in New York City

I received a ticket for disorderly conduct in Manhattan for picking up a garbage can (stupid, thought it was funny, guess not). I was not arrested just given a ticket that says “disorderly conduct”. I cannot read the numbers on the ticked it looks like 2#### (can’t read others). Can anyone tell me what It might mean or how I could find out? Nervous about the whole situation… have to go to court and could use some advise other then don’t pick up garbage cans.

    Thank you

disorderly conduct NYS penal law 240.20 sub 1-7.

Sub 1 is for violent/turmultuous behavior. That is probably the subdivision you were cited for.

It is a SUMMONS in lieu of arrest, and is giving for violations instead of putting someone without a warrant through the system for a minor infraction.

Go to the court on the day, and you'll be given a fine, or community service, or some similar wrist slap punishment.

Is that a colloquial term or is just lifting a garbage can a violation?

No, really, I was helping a stray kitten out of the garbage can when the officer ticketed me.

In some jurisdictions they hide pots of gold under garbage cans. You have to lift them up to find the pot of gold.

You were picking up a garbage can to help a stray kitten get out of it and were cited for DO. Not buyin it.
